Hello guys! Today I’ll be covering an interesting game that I saw during Round 1 of the 2025 Sharjah Masters played between two GMs: GM Iniyan and GM Royal. Let’s get into it.
Although there were multiple noteworthy moments and sacrifices, the idea that attracted my attention when I saw this game was Be6 after sacrificing the queen. Anyone’s first reaction is “No way this works…” but it somehow does.
Key takeaways from this game:
- Take your time in critical moments and calculate all variations, no matter how crazy it might look at first glance. When your opponent’s king is in the center of the board, you should always be on alert.
- Don’t trust your opponent too much. I believe that Nxe5 is a decently easy find for a GM, but perhaps he assumed that a player rated close to 2600 wouldn’t make a blunder like that.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoyed! Let me know in the comments if you have any suggestions for what I should write about next.
