Hello guys! Today we will be looking at a very recent game played in Game 2 of Round 3 of the 2025 World Cup between GMs Wojtaszek and Fedoseev. In Game 1, GM Wojtaszek took lead with a nice endgame win. This meant that GM Fedoseev needed a win on demand in Game 2 with the black pieces in order to force the tiebreak. He chose a very unorthodox line, leading to a rook sacrifice as early as move 5.
Let’s take a look at the game:
I hope you guys enjoyed this game! It was a short one, but it’s not everyday that you see a 2700+ GM go for such a risky line in a prestigious classical event against another very experienced GM.
As always, if you have any questions or suggestions, leave me a comment below. Have a great day 🙂
